With loads of advice pouring in from left right and centre, we tend to copy the best and keep rehearsing on them. However, there are certain tips which are outdated, stale or may not be relevant at all. Here are a few examples:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><b>My greatest weakness is that \u201cI am a perfectionist\u201d.<br \/>\n<\/b><b>You think you\u2019re saying :<\/b><b> \u201c<\/b>I am a person with zero weakness<b>\u201d.<br \/>\n<\/b><b>The Recruiter is hearing : <\/b>I will not admit any of my weakness which means I will \u00a0never improve.<br \/>\n<b>The Truth :<\/b> Responses like \u2018I\u2019m a perfectionist\u2019 or \u2018I\u2019m too loyal\u2019 really communicate either a lack of honesty or a lack of self-awareness. The recruiter wants to actually \u00a0hear your weakness from you when he\u2019s asking this question. He knows you\u2019re not perfect and he knows you\u2019ll make mistakes on the job, what he doesn\u2019t currently know is how you\u2019ll handle those inevitable setbacks\u2014and that matters a lot!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0<\/span><b>I will excel in this job because I like working with people.<br \/>\n<\/b><b>You think you\u2019re saying :<\/b> I am the \u00a0Ultimate Team Player.<br \/>\n<b>The Recruiter is hearing : <\/b>\u201cI\u2019m Pretty Sure This Is What I\u2019m Supposed to Say\u201d.<br \/>\n<b>The Truth<\/b><b> : <\/b><b>T<\/b>his is one of the most robotic answers a candidate could provide, it might seem like a friendly answer, it doesn\u2019t actually reveal anything about you as a person or employee. A better approach would be to talk about a team project where you interacted with a diverse group of people\u2014or difficult people. This will have a much bigger impact and make a better impression on the interviewer.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><b>This is my dream company, I cannot imagine working anywhere else.<br \/>\n<\/b><b>You think you\u2019re saying : <\/b>I really want this job.<br \/>\n<b>The Recruiter is hearing :<\/b> I did not do any research.<br \/>\n<b>The Truth : \u00a0<\/b>Interviewers want to know that they\u2019re not just hiring someone who\u2019s looking for any job, you do eventually have to get into the details.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, next time when someone advises you these quick one liners, do take it with a pinch of salt.
